Vulture Update - July 2020

A field report on the GPS tagging of griffon vultures

The project has been very successful so far and has already led to useful findings. However, in order to get a more complete picture of the foraging behaviour of the vultures in this region it's important to tag more individuals. This is particularly relevant given that one of the preliminary findings of the project was that there is a lot of variation between individual vultures in their movement directions and home ranges. In July 2020, Tiago, our conservation biologist, went to the C么a Valley to assist in the tagging of one more griffon vulture. This video includes an account of his visit and a discussion with our partners Carlos Pacheco and Andr茅 Couto about how the project is progressing.
